Kevin Kruke is a nationally recognized expert in public policy with 20 years of advocacy experience in Washington, D.C. He is now a partner of Strategic Communication, Inc. and is the chief strategist for transportation and technology clients. Kevin also maintains an appropriations lobbying office in Washington, D.C. for the firm, primarily handling transportation and non-profit clients for federal lobbying specifically for government appropriations.
Mr. Kruke served as executive vice president of the Highway Users Federation, where he managed the association’s $3.4 million budget and staff. He also was vice president for public and international affairs with the American Trucking Associations, where he managed media and public affairs outreach programs that influenced passage of the 1991 ISTEA federal highway legislation and 1990 Clean Air Act Amendments. In addition, he served as the executive vice president of the ATA Foundation, where he founded the Trucking Research Institute.
He served as special assistant to President Ronald Reagan and deputy director for public liaison at the White House, where he advised the President and his senior staff on legislation, regulatory actions and public communications. On behalf of the President, he directed White House events, prepared presidential statements and coordinated key pre-election appearances for more than 60 top Administration spokespersons.
Prior to his tenure at the White House, he served Transportation Secretary Elizabeth Dole as congressional relations officer at the U.S. DOT. His duties included apprising Members of Congress of the Administration’s views on pending legislation and advancing administration initiatives. He was appointed by President George Bush to the DOT’s National Motor Carrier Advisory Committee.
Kevin is a native of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, an Eagle Scout and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics, with minors in German and Statistics from the University of Wisconsin. He has a Master of Philosophy degree from George Washington University in Environmental Economics and Industrial Organization.
