MS&L Announces New Global Management Team

06/07/2005
Manning Selvage & Lee’s (MS&L) chief executive officer, Mark Hass, today announced the formation of the firm’s new global management team as well as several key appointments across the business. Effective immediately, the new team and appointments are as follows:
  • Wendy Lund has been named executive vice president, business and client development, North America. Lund will lead the firm’s new business efforts in North America as well as all strategic planning initiatives related to the growth and development of client relationships.
  • Jim Tsokanos has been named executive vice president and managing director of MS&L's New York office, taking over from Lund. As the head of MS&L’s largest office, Tsokanos will focus on setting its strategic direction, continuing its impressive growth and working to maximize client relationships.
  • Jill Farwell has been named chief operating officer, North America and president, Latin America. In her new role, Farwell will be responsible for operational and financial management in North America. She will also take the lead on growing MS&L's capabilities in Latin America and will build a Hispanic capability for the firm.
  • Larry Kamer has been named president, North America. Kamer, working closely with Farwell, will be responsible for driving the firm’s growth strategy in North America, including business planning and management. He will be based in Chicago to help facilitate management of the North American offices.

In addition to these North American members, Hass also named several key members of the firm’s European and Asian-Pacific operations to the global management team. These include Glenn Osaki, director, Asia; Nicholas Walters, chief executive officer, MS&L London; Erica Backhaus, chief executive officer, Frankfurt; Daniela Canegallo, managing director, MS&L Italia and Juergen Togotzes, most recently president, Europe, Middle East and Africa. Togotzes is also taking on a new role as chairman, MS&L Germany.

“The appointment of these senior managers to their new roles and MS&L’s global management team is designed to achieve our goals of increasing the size and stature of the firm. It also reflects their contributions to making MS&L the firm it is today,” said Mark Hass, chief executive officer of MS&L. “Most importantly, each of them brings impressive talents and experience to MS&L that make them invaluable to our clients and our staff.”

During her tenure as managing director and also as director of the New York office’s healthcare practice, Lund grew the office exponentially in both size and reputation. She has over 20 years of experience in communications, marketing, healthcare and advocacy work. Tsokanos, who joined the agency in 1999, was most recently managing director of the agency's Atlanta office. Under his leadership, MS&L Atlanta doubled both in terms of size and revenue. Tsokanos has worked closely on some of the firm's largest clients, including The Home Depot, Philips Consumer Electronics and The Coca-Cola Company.

Farwell, most recently president, North America, joined MS&L nearly 20 years ago. She has managed corporate image, product publicity and public awareness programs for some of MS&L's largest clients, and established a strong presence for the firm in California. Kamer, most recently SVP and director, crisis and issues management, has built his career in public

affairs, including work in state government, as a lobbyist and as a public affairs consultant. He has started four successful consulting and public relations

businesses during his 25-year career, and has received numerous recognitions for his work in controversy and crisis management.

Hass also named two additional executive appointments: Rob Baskin as managing director, MS&L Atlanta and Karlenne Trimble, deputy managing director, MS&L Atlanta.

Formerly deputy managing director since joining MS&L in 2002, Baskin brings more than 25 years of corporate and agency experience to the position. Since joining the firm in 2002, Baskin has worked to help grow the office and bring in new accounts such as Equifax, The Coca-Cola Company, Cracker Barrel Old Country Store and Arby's LLC. Trimble, who came to MS&L in 2000 through an acquisition of her agency DeeleyTrimble & Company, has also been tapped to serve as global workplace practice leader, based on her expertise in handling the communications around major milestones of companies. Both Baskin and Trimble worked on MS&L Atlanta's management team with Tsokanos for more than three years.

“Atlanta’s leadership team has created one of the premier operations in our network and has spearheaded a variety of innovative programs,” said Hass. “We are fortunate to tap into the office’s resources for help with a variety of global account teams and practices. Today we applaud Rob and Karlenne on their new appointments and for the leadership roles they continue to provide the agency.”
