Veteran PR Professional Nancy Glick Joins MS&L’s Healthcare Team
Glick to play a major role in MS&L’s advocacy efforts; will build on agency’s healthcare, health policy and FDA offering
06/03/2009WASHINGTON, D.C. – MS&L, one of the world's leading communications firms, today announced the appointment of Nancy Glick as senior vice president and head of its Washington, D.C. health and nutrition affairs practice. Glick’s appointment is the second senior healthcare hire for MS&L Washington in the last month; in May, Holly Feraci was named vice president of government relations and healthcare.
Glick, who has more than 25 years of experience in healthcare and nutrition communications, will work closely with MS&L’s global healthcare network to provide expert counsel on alliance development, advocacy, regulatory issues and policy changes. She was a member of the Women’s Health Leaders for Obama during the 2008 election.
A veteran of both public relations agencies and government healthcare divisions, Glick was most recently the executive vice president and practice director of health and nutrition affairs in the Washington office of Ruder Finn. There, she led business development and managed public relations and advocacy programs addressing disease prevention and health promotion, elder care, women’s health concerns, medication safety, access to quality care, drug pricing, biotechnology and food safety.
Glick also served in a variety of positions at Hill and Knowlton, Inc. over two ten year periods, including holding the position of senior counselor for health, nutrition and consumer issues, where she conducted disease prevention and health promotion campaigns, and managed the food and nutrition business for the firm’s operations in the U.S. She was also a senior vice president in Porter Novelli’s D.C. food and health practice.
In government, Glick served as a press officer at the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), handling food, cosmetic and recall issues for the agency during Commissioner Donald Kennedy’s tenure. In the U.S. Office of Consumer Affairs, she served as the deputy press secretary and principal speechwriter to Virginia Knauer, special assistant to the president for Consumer Affairs.
“Nancy is one of the most trusted and respected leaders in healthcare and nutrition communications, and her expert knowledge in women’s health, food and medicine safety, cancer communications, biotechnology and disease prevention will be an immediate asset to our global clients,” said Neil Dhillon, managing director of MS&L’s Washington office. “Nancy’s work at the FDA will also help our clients navigate through the complex regulatory process and expected new regulations from the Obama administration that will impact all healthcare groups,” he added.
Glick serves on the boards of the National Women’s Health Resource Council and the Food Institute and formerly served on the boards of the Friends of the World Food Programme and the National Coalition for Cancer Survivorship. She serves in an advisory capacity to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and the National Rehabilitation Hospital, is a principal of the Council for Excellence in Government and has been recognized for excellence by the Public Relations Quarterly.
MS&L’s Washington, D.C. office has deep subject matter knowledge of key industry issues and established relationships in the media, policy and political worlds. The office helps corporations, foundations, trade associations and coalitions find their voice in Washington, set the terms of the debate, defeat an opponent’s strategy, mobilize third parties and win the media war. Its healthcare experience is world class, in both health policy and pharmaceutical products.
