Breaking Through Trade Show Communications Clutter

Each year, industry-leading television technology companies vie for editorial attention at the annual International Broadcast Conference (IBC) in Amsterdam, the largest global broadcast exhibition. OpenTV, a leading provider of advanced digital television solutions and interactive services, had historically struggled to cut through the noise to get strong coverage, and was rarely tapped for industry expert insights by media. Starting in 2006, OpenTV engaged MSLGROUP's global technology team to maximize its presence at IBC. MSLGROUP helped secure media and analyst interviews, utilizing new media to help spread the research and development conducted into the company’s new zoomable user interface, or ZUI, which was demonstrated for the first time at the event to industry acclaim. MSLGROUP structured OpenTV’s pitch to focus on the company’s vision for the advanced digital television market, contributing industry insights and specifics into how OpenTV’s product innovations are shaping the category’s growth and success.

This program maximized the understanding of the new way to open TV and internet content up at the event, quadrupling the number of interviews the company had experienced in previous years. We also had a positive impact with online and broadcast media and, ultimately, Wall Street analyst commentary. Significant coverage ranged from European analyst newsletter New Television Insider to U.S. industry bible Broadcasting & Cable, and OpenTV was one of 18 companies interviewed for IBC’s official pre-show podcast.
