The Oscars of Gold Jewelry Design
Each year, AuDITIONS, the Oscars of gold jewelry design is hosted in different countries around the world. The aim of the competition is to encourage and develop gold design skills among young designers. In 2006 – 2007, China was the host country for the theme ‘Just Women’ which aimed to allow more Chinese women to enjoy designs of local designs.
MS&L
worked with the co-organizers, AngloGold Ashanti, World Gold Council
(WGC) and Just Gold® to plan and implement a one year long competition
working with students of design institutes across China. After 12
months of promotion, co-ordination of entries and preliminary judging,
the final gala event was held in Beijing in March, 2007. The event
included a model catwalk, auction of celebrity designs and a final
award ceremony for designers throughout China. Celebrities such as Yue
Sai, Lan Yang, Mary Ma, Min Gao and Yuanyuan Gao auctioned their
designs and donated the proceeds to the China Women’s Development
Foundation. The final Gala Event was attended by more than 100
mainstream Beijing and international media as well as 350 guests and
designers from all over China.
